High market penetration drives Acme Packet expansion in EMEA

Industry leader opens new offices in Dubai, Jordan and Stockholm to meet growing
service provider and enterprise demand for session border controllers

BURLINGTON, MA, and PARIS, FRANCE, September 8, 2009 — Acme Packet, Inc. (NASDAQ: APKT), the leader in session border control solutions, today announced that it has opened new offices in Europe and the Middle East to support its large and growing customer base and increased use of interactive IP communications services in the region. The new offices will also facilitate Acme Packet’s ability to service and support in-region global 2000 companies looking to leverage session border controllers (SBCs) to secure large enterprise networks. These new office locations will provide pre-sales, sales, and system engineering technical service for Acme Packet’s growing customer base in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

With the addition of Dubai, Jordan and Stockholm, Acme Packet now has a physical presence in 14 countries across the region including Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain and the U.K. Acme Packet has also expanded its facilities in Madrid, Spain, to include a training facility for customers and partners, a lab environment for interoperability testing, engineering support and enhanced technical support from the location.

According to the most recent Carrier IP Telephony Session Border Controller report by Dell’Oro Group, Acme Packet is the world’s leading provider of SBCs with 73% market share in EMEA for the calendar year 2008. In total, 275 customers have deployed Acme Packet’s market-leading SBCs in EMEA including 24 of the top 25 service providers in the region. Acme Packet’s customers in EMEA accounted for 35% of the company’s total number of customers worldwide.

“As the market for trusted, secure, interactive IP communication services, SIP trunking and VoIP peering in EMEA accelerates, Acme Packet is well-positioned to capture this opportunity and serve its growing customer base of service providers and enterprises,” said Andy Ory, president, CEO and co-founder of Acme Packet. “We look forward to expanding the company’s range and reach into new markets and forming stronger relationships with customers, systems integration and distribution channels, and complementary product partners.”
